PROJECT LEAD · NOV 2025 – JAN 2026

Forecasting UK electric-vehicle demand

An empirical study of infrastructure, regulation and ownership costs under UK road-transport decarbonisation targets.

  • Combined quarterly UK battery-electric vehicle data for 2010–2024 with DfT registrations, Zapmap charger counts and ONS energy prices.
  • Built a 0–3 policy-intensity index, used log-OLS to estimate demand elasticities and SARIMA to forecast 2025–2027 penetration.
  • Within the study, estimated public-charger elasticity at 1.24, found support for supply-side mandates, and found no statistically significant contemporaneous energy-price effect.
  • Created reusable Python regression and forecasting scripts, with recommendations for government, automakers and energy providers.
